Two weekends ago we spent Sunday afternoon in Lawrence, KS visiting the three farms that supply our CSA veggies. It was such a nice time.
The weather was perfect. The kids climbed on tractors, conversed with goats and chickens while big flocks of birds swooped in the sky. The wind blew and the sun shone. And we walked each farm and asked questions and ate fresh pizza from the outdoor oven.
This sort of farming looks hard and messy and stressful. There are so many uncertainties involved, but I'm so glad there are people still willing to take it on. I feel proud to support these small-scale, local farmers and the good work they're trying to do.
The veggies (and eggs!) have been delicious too.
