And it was awesome.
My daughter has a subscription to the American Girl magazine, and she loves it. And as much as the American Girl relentless consumerism makes me cringe, I have to admit the magazine is pretty great. It's about strong girls being themselves, helping others, making their own fun.
There was an article about throwing a summer party, and she was inspired. She cleaned and decorated, planned the menu and games, and invited a few friends for a sleepover. They ate mini-hotdogs, watermelon, make-your-own fruit kabobs, and popsicles. They squirted each other with the hose, made water balloons, played outdoor games, and jumped on the trampoline.
The sleeping was a bit of a challenge for them all, but that's how sleepovers go when you're nine!
